Are you out of ideas of what to bring to a BBQ? Let us help! Focaccia is the perfect bread for beginners, because it requires no kneading. It is deliciously soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. It is a guaranteed crowd pleaser and is super easy to make.
Ingredients
- 400ml luke warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 470g wheat flour
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- more olive oil for the baking dish and as topping
Directions
- Combine the warm water, yeast and sugar in a small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until it begins to get foamy.
- Combine all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Pour in the yeast mixture and combine.
- Pour olive oil into another clean mixing bowl, pour in the dough and coat completely in olive oil.
- Allow dough to rise for 4-12 hours
- Fold in the four corners of the focaccia dough, flip the dough over and place it into a baking dish.
- Gently press and pull the dough to fit the baking dish (don’t worry too much, the dough will rise to mould the baking tray). Allow to rise for another 45mins-4 hours.
- Dimple the dough, by pressing through it with your finger tips. Sprinkle with dried rosemary and olives and generously drizzle with olive oil.
- Cook for 20 mins at 200 degrees Celsius
- Serve & enjoy! We recommend combing olive oil and balsamic vinegar and dipping the focaccia.
